Ready to find some colorful eggs and enjoy a delicious chocolate bunny? Easter is around the corner and Sacramento has been ranked as one of the best major cities to celebrate the holiday, according to WalletHub.
Regardless of religious affiliation, Easter is a major consumer holiday that gathers billions in purchases. About 80% of Americans will celebrate the holiday and are expected to spend nearly $25 billion, according to the National Retail Federation.
“The best cities for Easter cater to the religious nature of the holiday by offering plenty of opportunities for Christians to attend services, and they also provide the resources for people to have a great time with their family regardless of religious affiliation,” said Chip Lupo, WalletHub analyst.
“That means lots of places to get some sweet treats or dine out, as well as good weather conditions and nice open spaces for Easter egg hunts.”

California’s capital ranked as No. 14 out of 100 for best major cities to celebrate Easter. Sacramento ranked high in Easter observers, traditions and kids’ Easter events. The city ranked within the top 10 for Easter traditions and Easter weather. It ranked highest among the California cities that made WalletHub’s list.
Long Beach and Bakersfield snuck in to the top 20 with Sacramento, taking the 16th and 17th spots respectively. Riverside ranked no. 29.
