BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A boy was rescued after being stuck inside a chimney at a northeast Bakersfield home Wednesday afternoon.

Officials with the Bakersfield Fire Department said crews were called to a report of a child stuck in a chimney at a home in the 2900 block of La Cresta Drive, near Garces Memorial High School.

When they arrived, they found a small child down inside a chimney about 8 to 12 feet down. Officers said the child was not in any distress and was able to speak to firefighters.

Crews were able to send ropes down to him and pull him back out.

He was taken to the hospital for evaluation with some scrapes.
