On GV Wire’s Unfiltered Show, Rep. Jim Costa (D-Fresno) criticized President Donald Trump over U.S. involvement in the Middle East and said Congress should have a greater role in decisions involving military action.
During the interview, GV Wire News Director Bill McEwen sharply criticized U.S. aid to Israel and called Israel’s actions in Lebanon “reprehensible.”
McEwen questioned Costa saying, “Why aren’t they (Israel) sending us foreign aid? Well, you’re laughing, but I’m dead serious. American people are fed up with this.”
Costa responded with, “I don’t disagree with you, Bill. I’m only laughing by the notion that we’re obviously not going to get foreign aid from Israel.”
The congressman said he shared concerns about military spending and said some lawmakers have raised the War Powers Resolution in response.
Costa said Trump “prefers to operate without congressional involvement” and argued the president has relied too heavily on executive orders.
The congressman also said voters are frustrated over inflation, affordability, and what he described as a lack of progress in Congress, citing widespread protests and criticism from figures including Joe Rogan and Harvey Levin.
