The Kern County Treasurer and Tax Collector’s Office has put out an announcement reminding county residents that the second installment of their Kern County property tax will be delinquent if not paid by 5 p.m. April 10.

A release from the office says taxes must be filed by then to avoid a 10% late penalty and a $10.00 delinquency fee.

The release says property tax payments must be made in person, electronically or be postmarked on or before the deadline.

Taxes can be paid online via the Treasurer-Tax Collector’s website at www.kcttc.co.kern.ca.us. Electronic checks can be used for online payments with zero fees, the agency said in a news release, though credit cards and debit cards carry a 2.19% card processing fee whether paid online or in person, with a minimum fee of $2.

Property tax and parcel information are also available on the website, the release said.

Payment can be mailed to the KCTTC Payment Center, P.O. Box 541004, Los Angeles, CA, 90054-1004, but in-person payments must be made at the Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office at 1115 Truxtun Ave., 2nd floor, Bakersfield, CA, 93301, the release said, noting waiting times can vary between one and two hours.

Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

“If you do not have your tax bill, you may request a substitute tax bill or you may obtain the amount of property tax due by calling 661-868-3490 or by emailing TTC@KernCounty.com,” the release said.
