Jose Preciado was arrested a few days later.

Court documents revealed that Angel, another son of Jose’s, and Jose had been drinking and were arguing about an unpaid electricity bill. Angel had come to defend his brother about the unpaid bill and punched his father, Jose, in the face twice, knocking him down.

Jose got up and pulled a gun from his waistband, which led to a struggle with both of his sons over the weapon, resulting in Angel being shot in the chest.

Investigators said witnesses reported that they heard Jose say the gunshot was “an accident” before he fled from the home. Investigators arrested Jose on Nov. 25 at his workplace.

Jose admitted to investigators that he was involved in a verbal altercation with Angel and believed he had pointed the gun at Angel’s shoulder, then shot.
