A 63-unit luxury apartment complex under construction in north Fresno — between two of the area’s main retail attractions — could be completed and ready for renters in a few months.

The Hubert at Audubon Court apartments, going up just east of the intersection of Palm and Nees intersection, will bring “a little more of an L.A.-type feel” to the area, said Blake Hoffman, CEO of Fresno Supreme Inc., which is developing the complex. Nearby on Nees Avenue is River Park and also the upscale Park Place shopping center.

“The goal was to create a little more urban feel for Fresno,” Hoffman said. “You know, something that’s walkable and you can go to the shopping centers nearby.”

The apartments are also designed to be larger-than-normal units, Hoffman said. Though rents are not yet set, the units will be priced at “the luxury, high-end of market rate.”

Hoffman declined to say how much money was invested in building The Hubert.

The new complex, named after Hoffman’s father, is currently planned for completion by late August with move-ins beginning in September, Hoffman said.

The Hubert project will include two buildings — a larger one with 51 units and a smaller one, which is already complete, with 12 units.

There will be underground parking with elevators leading to the units above, “which is unique, as far as I know, in Fresno,” said Hoffman. There will be a coffee bar area, a fitness center and a “pool and cabana barbecue area” with a jacuzzi spa, Hoffman added.

Though Hoffman said The Hubert will be a “kind of a standalone” complex, he added that it will be connected to adjacent the Audubon Court apartment complex, which are also owned by Fresno Supreme Inc. Residents of The Hubert will have access to the Audubon Court amenities, including the tennis court and clubroom.

There are several floor plans, but the one-bedroom units alone range in size from 950 to 1,000 square feet, he said. The two-bedroom units start at 1,265 square feet.

“They’re pretty spacious and the ceilings are very high,” he said. “We’re trying to create a pretty luxurious feel.”

Hoffman said pricing has not yet been settled, but he anticipated the one-bedroom units will start in the $2,300 range and the two-bedroom units will start in the $2,600 range.
