BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Residents can expect traffic delays in downtown Bakersfield as the city begins a corridor improvement project on 18th and 19th Streets from April 6 through Halloween, with temporary closures.

The City of Bakersfield will begin a long-term Corridor Improvement project on 18th and 19th Streets starting Monday, April 6.

City officials said the project will require temporary closures on 18th and 19th Streets between L and O Streets until it is completed.

The project is expected to be completed by October 31.

Detours will be in place at the nearest street approaching the closures. Traffic delays are expected as a result and drivers are asked to use alternate routes, plan for extra travel time through the impacted areas, and to use caution while driving through these affected areas.

The City said construction work may be postponed and rescheduled without notice due to inclement weather and other unforeseen conditions.
