A Good Friday service was celebrated by Archbishop José H. Gomez at noon on Friday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles.
The solemn liturgical service included the Lord’s Passion from the Gospel of John. During the service, the archbishop and priests carried a cross down the cathedral’s center aisle in an emotions-stirring moment for those who witnessed the traditional procession.
A special prayer was offered for those who will be baptized and welcomed into the Church community during Easter Vigil Masses on Holy Saturday, April 4, at the cathedral and at Archdiocese of Los Angeles parishes.

The faithful public had the opportunity to venerate the cross — acknowledging Jesus’ suffering, sacrifice and death on the cross as well as expressing their own gratitude and love as they prayed together with others.
In addition to the noon service, also known as the Passion of the Lord, two more liturgical services were held later in the day. lacatholics.org/event/good-friday-of-the-lords-passion/
