BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Mercy Hospital Downtown was temporarily placed on lockdown Friday afternoon after someone called in a swatting hoax at the hospital, officials said.

The hospital received the threat and was placed on lockdown to investigate a hospital spokesperson said.

Bakersfield Police Department officers were called to the scene and swept the complex, but found the threat was not credible.

The lockdown was lifted around 6 p.m. and regular operations resumed at the hospital, a spokesperson said.
