Gas is going for an eye-popping amount at one station along California’s Central Coast.

The gas station in Gorda, which is located in a remote area of southwestern Monterey County, was selling regular unleaded for $9.40 per gallon this week. Unleaded plus was listed at $9.70 per gallon. Premium unleaded was going for $9.99 per gallon.

Gas station owner Leo Flores said the pump can’t actually reach $10.

“The high prices, it’s because we run the place on generators,” Flores said. “We don’t have power. We create our own power here.”

The station often has the highest gas prices in the country.

In the Bay Area, gas prices continue to surge. As of Thursday, the average in Oakland was up to $5.92 per gallon. In San Jose, it was $5.88. The average in San Francisco had topped $6 per gallon.
