The Padres’ rehab crew was quite busy in Triple-A El Paso’s 5-2 win in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Saturday in Tacoma.

Right-hander Griffin Canning allowed a run in 2⅓ innings, relievers Jason Adam and Yuki Matsui both turned in scoreless appearances and Sung-Mun Song went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Song also played all eight innings at second base. His second run-scoring hit was part of a four-run eighth inning.

Song is hitting .321/.387/.357 with a double, seven RBIs and eight strikeouts in seven games as he rehabs his oblique injury.

Making his first rehab start, Canning (Achilles) struck out four, walked two and allowed three hits while throwing 33 of his 51 pitches for strikes.

Adam (quad) struck out a batter and allowed a hit in two-thirds of an inning in his second appearance with El Paso. He was expecting to pitch in back-to-back games this weekend, perhaps a final hurdle before activation this week.

Matsui (groin) struck out two and allowed a hit while recording three outs in his first rehab game.

In the second game, the Chihuahuas (5-3) beat Tacoma 2-1 in seven innings. Right-hander Evan Fitterer started the game with four strikeouts over three shutout innings and right-hander Eli Villalobos (1-1, 4.50 ERA) earned the win with two scoreless innings in relief.

Third baseman Marcos Castañon (.650 OPS) drove in two runs on his first homer.
