Police are seeking witnesses and more information in connection with a crash that left a man dead in Long Beach on Saturday.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the collision occurred at 7:52 p.m. near Pacific Place and West Wardlow Road, not far from the 405-710 Freeway interchange.
Officers arrived and found Long Beach Fire Department personnel rendering medical aid to the victim, listed as a male pedestrian, in the roadway. He was determined dead at the scene despite the lifesaving efforts from paramedics.
His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin by the L.A. County Medical Examiner’s Office.

“The preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a 2025 Subaru Crosstrek was traveling southbound on Pacific Place in the number one lane when he struck a pedestrian walking in the roadway outside of a marked cross walk,” LBPD said.
Police added that the driver of the Crosstrek remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
“At this time, speed, distracted driving and driving under the influence are not believed to be factors in the collision,” LBPD further stated.
