A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of a man whose body was found in an empty lot in Vista, sheriff’s officials said.

Arturo Garcia Morales, 26, was arrested Friday on Seagaze Drive, a block west of South Coast Highway in Oceanside, and booked into the Vista jail on a charge of murder, sheriff’s Lt. Juan Marquez said in a news release.

Garcia Morales is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Vista Superior Court, Marquez said.

The body of Jose Garcia Ramirez was found March 30 by deputies responding to a report of a deceased person on Hacienda Drive near Pomelo Drive, Marquez said.

No obvious signs of trauma were observed by deputies, he said.

An autopsy April 1 showed the victim suffered a brain bleed that may have resulted from trauma to the head, Marquez said. Based on that, the sheriff’s Homicide Unit assumed responsibility for the investigation.

No details were released about the cause or manner of death. The case remains under investigation.
