A woman is dead after being pulled from a car submerged in a canal in central Fresno.
Police were called out to a crash in the area of McKinley Avenue and Fresno Street just before 2 am Monday.
They found one unoccupied car in the middle of McKinley, and another vehicle in the canal on the south side.
The Fresno Fire Department’s rescue team was able to rescue one woman from the vehicle in the canal.

She was rushed to the hospital, where she died.
Officers are still searching for the driver of the other vehicle.
No information on what led up to the crash has been released.
McKinley Avenue from Fresno Street to Highway 41 will be closed as the investigation continues. Drivers should avoid the area and find an alternate route.
