PIH Health has named Irena Zuanic to chief operating officer of PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Downtown LA, the company announced last month.
Zuanic will continue to serve in her role as the chief nursing officer at PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital with an expanded leadership role. She will oversee all inpatient nursing units, emergency services, perioperative and perinatal services, inpatient dialysis, physical and occupational therapy and hospital operations.
“Since PIH Health acquired PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital in 2019, Irena Zuanic has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and a strong ability to meet the evolving needs of the organization,” said PIH Health President and Chief Executive Officer James R. West. “She brings a level of passion and commitment that will be invaluable as she takes on oversight of ancillary services.”
Zuanic will also provide executive oversight for ancillary departments including cardiology, catheterization lab, radiology and interventional radiology, respiratory services, neurology operations and physical medicine.
In May 2019, Zuanic joined PIH Health as chief nursing officer of Good Samaritan Hospital. In December that year, it was acquired by PIH Health, and she transitioned to chief nursing officer of PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital. According to a news release from PIH Health, Zuanic’s expertise includes the full scope of nursing practice, “with a strong focus on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care and a proven commitment to education and professionalism in nursing.”
Zuanic’s prior experience includes roles at St. Francis Medical Center, Providence Saint John’s Health Center and Centinela Hospital. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Dundee, Scotland; a Master of Science degree in nursing and nursing administration from the University of Phoenix; a Nurse Executive Advanced Board Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center and a doctorate degree in healthcare administration from the University of Phoenix.
