The Strokes have officially announced their seventh studio album, titled “Reality Awaits,” ending a six-year recording hiatus.
The announcement comes just as the New York indie rock stalwarts prepare to take the stage Monday, April 6, at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, marking a high-profile return to the city ahead of their headlining slot at the Outside Lands music festival in August.
The band confirmed the news via a teaser video posted to social media on Monday. The clip, styled after 1980s-era magazine advertisements, features a vintage car and a brief snippet of new music.

“In the Flesh, It’s Even Sexier,” the teaser reads. “Reality Awaits, the new album by The Strokes. Out this summer.”
This marks the group’s first full-length project since 2020’s “The New Abnormal,” which earned the band a Grammy Award for best rock album.

Heavy traffic is expected in the Civic Center area. Venue officials “highly encourage” the use of public transportation.
BART/Muni: Exit at the Civic Center Station.
Bicycles: Free bike parking is available at the Civic Center Garage on McAllister Street between Polk and Larkin.
Caltrain: Exit at the San Francisco Station located at Fourth and King. Catch the 83X Mid-Market Express from the Caltrain Station to Civic Center Station or take the N or K/T to Civic Center Station.
Parking: Limited parking is available at the Civic Center Garage.
Looking ahead: Outside Lands 2026
Tonight’s performance serves as a precursor to the band’s return to Golden Gate Park. The Strokes are set to headline the second day of the Outside Lands on Saturday, Aug. 8.

They join a diverse 2026 lineup featuring fellow headliners Charli xcx and Rüfüs Du Sol.
