The San Diego Padres capitalized on a strong start from German Marquez and scored five runs to win their third game in a row. San Diego won the final two games in Boston before playing the first of three games in Pittsburgh against the Pirates on Monday. The Padres had one of their best offensive games of the young season. They used 11 hits to score five runs in support of Marquez who completed five scoreless innings before turning the game over to the bullpen. Ron Marinaccio and David Morgan combined to complete the final four innings without allowing a run.

The San Diego offense was led by Xander Bogaerts, Nick Castellanos, Freddy Fermin and Jake Cronenworth who each had two hits in the game. Ramon Laureano, Jackson Merrill and Manny Machado each added a hit. The Padres lineup will likely have a similar approach when they face Pirates ace Paul Skenes today at 3:40 p.m.
