U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were involved in a shooting Tuesday morning in the Central Valley, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.
One person was taken to a local hospital for medical attention, the sheriff’s office said in a statement posted at 9:42 a.m. The statement did not indicate what led to the shooting.
Interstate 5 on and off ramps were closed at Sperry Avenue, which is located roughly 20 miles southwest of Modesto in a rural area.
The sheriff’s office said drivers should expect “significant delays” and avoid the area.
No local law enforcement officers were involved in the incident, officials said.
