This year KCRA 3 is celebrating its 70th anniversary by highlighting organizations that are making a difference in our area. That includes The Sacramento Children’s Home. The organization has a long history. It started back in 1867. Now it provides services to 17,000 children and families. They offer crisis support for families with infants and toddlers, along with short-term homes for foster youth. “Most of our clients come to our services because they need help. In our crisis nurseries, it could be a family facing homelessness, it could be somebody escaping a violent environment, we can connect them with the agencies that can help them get through the crisis,” said Wendy Beseda with The Sacramento Children’s Home. “We can get those kids in our residential program, connected with a foster family where they can function.” The Children’s Home has 10 different programs across six locations. Their goal is to prevent child abuse and offer resources for the families most at-risk in our community. They tell KCRA 3 they’re always looking for more volunteers.See more coverage of top California stories here | Download our app | Subscribe to our morning newsletter | Find us on YouTube here and subscribe to our channel
