After a stretch of warm, dry weather, spring showers are expected in Southern California this weekend.
High pressure has dominated the region lately, but a low-pressure system started approaching the West Coast Thursday, bringing with it cooler temps, gusty winds, and a chance of rain.
Here’s what to expect and when.
Friday
Cloudier conditions are expected through Friday in Southern California.
NBCLA meteorologist Belen De Leon said showers are possible starting Friday in the foothills and other parts of LA County.
“I like the clouds, personally,” De Leon said. “It gives our skies a little personality.”
This is the first round of rain this weekend.
“The bulk of the moisture is not expected to arrive until late Friday and into Saturday morning,” De Leon explained.

Saturday
Saturday will be rainy, gusty and chilly with temps in the 60s.
De Leon said on-and-off rain will continue through the weekend, with a second round of rain late Saturday through Sunday.
Showers will be stronger on Saturday, with possible thunderstorms, isolated flooding, and slick roads.
“Saturday looks like our soggiest day,” De Leon added.
Keep the umbrella handy.
Sunday
Rain is expected to continue through the region on Sunday and linger into Monday. As of Thursday morning, De Leon said Sunday was looking like the rainiest day of the weekend.
Once the rainy weekend has wrapped, De Leon said most areas will have gotten between a half inch to 1.5 inches of rain.
