SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) — A woman who was struck by a vehicle Wednesday night in San Jose near Mt. Pleasant High School has died, according to authorities.

The San Jose Police Department responded at 8:09 p.m. to South White Road at Mt. McKinley Drive on the report of a crash involving a pedestrian. The pedestrian was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

In an update from police at 11:20 p.m., the department announced that the pedestrian had succumbed to her injuries. Her identity was not immediately released.

A man who was driving a light-colored 2005 Toyota minivan was turning onto southbound White Road from Mt. McKinley Drive when he struck the woman crossing eastbound inside the crosswalk, according to investigators.

The driver, who was not identified, remained at the scene and cooperated with police, SJPD said.

The incident marks the city’s 12th fatal traffic death and fifth pedestrian death of 2026.
