FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — The man who shot two correctional officers at the Fresno County Jail in 2016 has died in prison.

Thong Vang was convicted of shooting Officer Toamalama Scanlan and Officer Juanita Davila in the lobby of the jail on September 3, 2016.

Both unarmed officers were shot in the head and neck.

Officer Toamalama Scanlan was left paralyzed and passed away in 2021 due to complications.

While Officer Davila survived, she suffered severe, lasting injuries.

Vang was found guilty on April 27, 2018, and sentenced to 112 years to life.

While incarcerated at Mule Creek State Prison in Ione, California, Vang passed away on March 1st.
