Fresno Christian extended their winning streak to nine on Friday, bumping them up to 9-0. They breezed past the Hesperia Christian Patriots to the tune of 84-28. The Eagles’ offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they’ve scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fresno Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tycen Ramirez, who threw for 171 yards and six TDs while completing 81% of his passes, and also rushed for 92 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries. Ramirez has been hot, having posted four or more passing touchdowns the last five times he’s played. Alex Asatrian was another key rusher, rushing for 151 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries.
Fresno Christian’s run defense was locked in: Hesperia Christian could only muster zero yards per carry. While two picked up at least eight total tackles, Asatrian stood above the rest. He rushed for 151 yards and three scores on only eight carries. Fresno Christian didn’t have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.1.
Fresno Christian’s defense didn’t let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Dominic Ramirez, Braden Belmont, and Levi Eurich, who each picked up one sack apiece.
As for Hesperia Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3. While losing is never fun, they can’t take it too hard given the team’s big disadvantage in MaxPreps’ California football rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Fresno Christian is ranked sixth).
Hesperia Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Noah Griffin, who picked up 131 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making nine total tackles and defending one pass. Jackson Lake was in the mix too, providing Hesperia Christian with two touchdowns.
Fresno Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hesperia Christian, they will face off against Academy of Careers & Exploration at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
