It was way back at WWE Payback 2017 when Bayley lost the Raw women’s championship to Alexa Bliss in her hometown of San Jose, California. Bayley got her win back on Bliss in San Jose on an episode of Raw in 2022. Fast forward to 2026, and Bayley vs. Bliss was once again booked in San Jose on tonight’s (Apr. 10) episode of SmackDown.
The live fans loudly cheered on their hometown hero against Bliss, but there were extra shenanigans going on here thanks to the ringside presence of their respective tag team partners, Lyra Valkyria and Charlotte Flair.
Bayley got mixed up with Flair outside the ring late in the bout, and she decided to mock the signature Flair strut. The referee got distracted trying to get Valkyria out of there, which gave Flair an opening to throw her jacket at Bayley. Bayley took her eye off the ball long enough for Bliss to pull her back through the ropes for a roll up pin fall victory, to the disappointment of the fans in San Jose.
