Thousands of SMUD customers are without power in Sacramento while thunderstorms hit the Valley, according to the utility’s website. More than 28,000 customers are impacted by widespread outages. SMUD has not listed a cause for the outages, but they are marked on the website as “unplanned”. The Arden and Florin areas are most heavily effected areas as of 7:30 p.m., combining for more than 17,000 customers without power.Restoration times for the different outages vary depending on location.
