BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A teenager has died in the hospital after a crash reported in northeast Bakersfield on Oct. 19.

The California Highway Patrol said one of the female passengers who was in a vehicle that was traveling near Alfred Harrell Highway on Oct. 19 has died at the hospital.

Officials said all the passengers in the vehicle were 17-year-old girls.

A GoFundMe has been created for funeral expenses.

Officers were dispatched to Shadow Hills Drive near Alfred Harrell Highway, east of Fairfax, for a vehicle rollover crash around 7:55 p.m. on Oct. 19.

Investigation showed an 18-year-old man from Bakersfield was driving a 2020 white Toyota Camry on eastbound Alfred Harrell Highway in the #2 lane at 80 mph. The driver lost control of the vehicle and it veered to the westbound lane and rolled down an embankment.

The driver and passengers were all transported to Kern Medical with moderate to major injuries, according to CHP.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.

The driver could face vehicular manslaughter charges, according to CHP.
