Sacramento Republic FC over the past few weeks has selected a series of development firms that will construct the team’s planned, 20,000-seat stadium in the Railyards district.

Moorefield Construction, the team said Wednesday, will serve as the project’s general contractor. The firm managed stadium improvements for Major League Baseball’s Athletics ahead of the team’s temporary move to West Sacramento, and renovated Hughes Stadium at Sacramento City College in 2013. Republic FC played its first four home matches in club history at Hughes Stadium before relocating to Cal Expo.

Infrastructure work on the Railyards site will begin in the coming weeks, the team said. Republic FC hired Sacramento County-based Lund Construction to build public infrastructure required under the team’s agreement with the city, including streets, sidewalks, a bike trail, water and sewer infrastructure and storm drains.

Pegasus Development, a Las Vegas-based, boutique project management firm will oversee the team’s development projects. That includes the neighborhood surrounding the stadium.
