Re “Tennis club adjusts to ospreys” (April 7): I was pleased to read the management and (most) members of the La Jolla Tennis Club accept the new resident ospreys setting up house atop the court lights. In Encinitas, we have a pair that built a nest on top of a power pole next to MiraCosta College along Manchester Avenue. Yes, they too make a mess of the street and dangle fish carcasses off the lights, but they are regal and impressive birds of prey. Most importantly, their presence at both the tennis club and along the San Elijo Lagoon are evidence the natural environment is healthy and thriving, notwithstanding humans felling the trees they need to survive to build tennis courts, a highway, housing or a community college.
