Leashes in hand and paws on the ground, the San Diego Humane Society’s 32nd annual Walk for Animals returns to NTC Park at Liberty Station, bringing together thousands of pet owners and animal lovers for a day of community fundraising.
Participants can choose between a 2-mile walk or a shorter half-mile route. Both begin and end at the event site, where attendees can enjoy complimentary pancakes, canine activities, live music and animal-friendly booths featuring local vendors, treats and community partners.
Earlier this year, the organization held a Walk for Animals event in North County, raising $140,000 to support animal rescue programs, wildlife rehabilitation and community services, according to the nonprofit organization.
This year’s San Diego walk aims to raise $350,000 to help provide food, medical care and safe shelter for more than 40,000 homeless pets and injured wildlife cared for by the San Diego Humane Society each year.
Event program:
7 a.m.: Registration, complimentary pancake breakfast and entertainment begin
8:20 a.m.: Welcome and stage program.
8:40 a.m.: Blessing of the animals and group warm-up
9 a.m.: Walk begins.
Until 11 a.m.: Canine activities, live musing and Vendor Village
Pre-registration is available through May 1 on the organization’s website. On-site registration will also be available on the day of the event, beginning at 7 a.m.
