Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) is this weekend, and you can expect numerous celebrations throughout San Francisco to honor the holiday. One notable celebration is the Tenderloin Street Fair, which will serve as a wholesome, family-friendly Día de Muertos celebration on Saturday, November 1. The street fair is free and family-friendly and will take place on Golden Gate Ave between Larkin and Jones from 2 to 8 p.m.

The festival will feature Lucha libre (wrestling), live music, and even Aztec dancers. Plus, you can join in on sugar skull painting or decorate altars with other community members. The event is family-friendly and will include a children’s area with a bounce house, petting zoo, and other games and activities. For adults, there will also be an outdoor bar, a new addition to the street fair. Finally, attendees can expect numerous food vendors showcasing the restaurants in the neighborhood.

“Día de Muertos has become a special tradition for the Tenderloin, and we’re proud to co-host it alongside so many community partners,” said Kate Robinson, Executive Director of the Tenderloin Community Benefit District. “Each year, this celebration brings neighbors together in joy and remembrance, highlighting the culture and spirit of our neighborhood.”
