The victim and a suspect in a homicide in Stanton on Sunday have been identified by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
The OCSD – which provides police services for Stanton – says that the victim, Anthony Lee Carlos, 37, of Fullerton – was fatally injured by a gunshot wound.
On Tuesday, April 6, sheriff’s homicide investigators arrested Jeffrey Lynn Clayton, 43, of Fullerton on suspicion of homicide and booked him into Orange County Jail in Fullerton.
It appears to detectives that Carlos and Clayton knew each other prior to the incident.
Carlos’ body was found in the area of Main and Pacific streets in Stanton around 5:30 a.m.
In the course of the investigation, an illegal gambling house was located and about 50 people were detained at Cerritos and Flower avenues in Stanton and six people were arrested for outstanding arrest warrants not related to the incident.
Investigators say “multiple illegal gambling devices” were seized from the residence and booked as evidence.
Anyone with more information is asked to call the OCSD at (714) 647-7000.
