With Monday’s off-day behind the Padres and Xander Bogaerts and Jake Cronenworth getting off-days over the weekend, Fernando Tatis Jr. is back in right field to begin a three-game series against the Seattle Mariners.

Tatis played back-to-back games at second base over the weekend — first so Cronenworth could slide over the play shortstop for a day off for Bogaerts and then so Cronenworth could have his first day off of the season.
Tatis was 5-for-9 in the two games and made all the expected plays at second base, including completing a double play with a mid-80s throw to first base.
Tatis (.625 OPS) is still looking for his first homer of the season. He’ll be in the two-hole on Tuesday, between new leadoff hitter Ramón Laureano (.875 OPS) and center fielder Jackson Merrill (.705 OPS).
Third baseman Manny Machado (.774 OPS) will bat cleanup, followed by Bogaerts (.681 OPS), designated hitter Gavin Sheets (.718 OPS) and Ty France (.946 OPS), who is getting the start at first base against his old Mariners teammates.
Luis Campusano (1.154 OPS) will catch Michael King as he has all season and Cronenworth (.485 OPS) will bat ninth.
Tuesday is the 17th lineup variation in 17 games for the Padres.
The Padres (10-6) are riding a five-game winning streak, their longest since a five-game win streak last August catapulted the Padres into first place in the NL West.

Mariners RHP Bryan Woo (0-1, 1.50 ERA)
He’s turned in quality starts in two of his three outings so far and has 17 strikeouts against four walks through 18 innings. Woo has won all three of his starts against the Padres, allowing a 2.33 ERA while posting a 16-to-2 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 19⅓ innings. Fernando Tatis Jr. and Miguel Andujar both have two homers off Woo, while Gavin Sheets has one.
