The San Jose Barracuda are signing Penn State men’s hockey senior defenseman and alternate captain Jarod Crespo to an amateur tryout agreement (ATO), the organization announced on Tuesday.
Crespo will join the Sharks organization and is expected to report to the AHL’s Barracuda for the final two games of the regular season.
Crespo finished his senior campaign with the Nittany Lions, tallying 17 points through five goals and 12 assists in 37 games.
Across four seasons in Happy Valley, Crespo played in 141 games, totalling 42 points (12 goals, 30 assists). He also became just the second defenseman in Penn State men’s hockey history to record a hat trick, while missing only 11 games across his time in Hockey Valley.
Before coming to Penn State, the New Jersey native spent two seasons in the USHL with the Green Bay Gamblers from 2020 to 2022.
Crespo becomes the second Nittany Lion to sign an ATO following Penn State’s season, after Aiden Fink joined the Nashville Predators organization on an ATO before inking an entry-level contract after 10 games.
