BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A 55-year-old Bakersfield man who was previously featured on Golden Empire Most Wanted died of injuries from an assault in October 2025 and a suspect was arrested.
Officials with the Bakersfield Police Department told 17 News Joe Galvan, 55, was found unconscious in the 2000 block of Union Avenue and taken to the hospital with “no apparent traumatic injury,” on Oct. 8.
The police department was notified Galvan then died at a hospital on Oct. 23.
Investigation showed Galvan was physically assaulted, by a man later identified as Eric Joy, 63. Galvan fell and hit his head, which caused internal injury, officials said.
Joy was identified as the only suspect in the case and arrested on suspicion of murder.

Galvan was previously featured on KGET’s Golden Empire Most Wanted on July 31, 2025, according to the U.S. Marshals office.
Galvan was on parole for failing to register as a sex offender and had a criminal history that included resisting arrest and assaulting a peace officer.
