DALY CITY – Berkeley resident and former San Jose State University football player Hadari Darden has been found alive after a multi-day disappearance, family members announced Wednesday.

“With the grace of God, Hadari has been found,” Hanifea Click, a relative, said in a statement. “While we do not yet know everything that transpired, I want to sincerely thank each and every one of you who prayed, called, texted, sent messages, took time out of your schedules to search, put up flyers and advocated on Hadari’s behalf.”

“Your support has meant more than words can express,” Click said. “We are incredibly grateful.”

Darden, 28, had last been seen around 1:15 a.m. on April 5 at the Skyline Plaza Shopping Center in Daly City, according to a flyer and statement issued by the AWARE Foundation, a national nonprofit organization that assists families with missing loved ones.

In social media posts, family members said Darden had exhibited strange behavior in the weeks leading up to his disappearance.

“As we move forward, we ask that you continue to keep us in your prayers and kindly respect our privacy as we take the time to heal from this experience,” Click said.

Darden attended Moreau Catholic High School in Hayward and Contra Costa College in San Pablo before playing football for San Jose State University from 2018 to 2021.
