Six Flags will bring back park presidents at Knott’s Berry Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain and other top parks after eliminating the roles last year in a cost-cutting move.
Six Flags will reintroduce park presidents in 10 key markets after eliminating the positions at all 27 amusement parks in the chain in May 2025.
“Six Flags is moving to a new operating structure designed to better support the unique needs of each park,” according to Six Flags officials. “This change reflects our commitment to being more strategic, flexible and responsive as our business evolves. It positions Six Flags to continue growing while staying true to what makes each of our parks special.”
Six Flags moved to a geographic operating model in May 2025 with senior vice presidents overseeing four regions: East, West, Midwest and Texas.

The strategic shift sought to centralize certain functions and responsibilities at the corporate level following the $8 billion merger that combined Six Flags and Cedar Fair into a North American amusement park juggernaut.
Park presidents will be reintroduced at these 10 Six Flags parks:
Knott’s Berry Farm
Six Flags Magic Mountain
Cedar Point
Kings Island
Canada’s Wonderland
Six Flags Great America
Six Flags Great Adventure
Six Flags Over Georgia
Six Flags Over Texas
Carowinds
Raffi Kaprelyan will return to Knott’s Berry Farm as vice president and park manager — a role he held for a decade from 2011 to 2021.
Kaprelyan most recently served as senior vice president of the Six Flags West Region.

Brian Oerding will take over as vice president and park manager at Six Flags Magic Mountain after 18 years at Carowinds.

The new Six Flags operating structure brings park leadership closer to daily operations.
“These changes increase accountability at the park level and allow the organization to move faster with fewer layers and less complexity,” according to Six Flags officials.
The Six Flags strategy shift will reduce positions at the corporate level. The number of positions affected remains confidential, according to Six Flags officials.
