Police said one suspect has been detained, but they are still looking for additional suspects.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Officers in south Sacramento detained one suspect and continued searching for others after a violent incident at an apartment complex late Thursday morning.

Police responded just before 10:45 a.m. to the 40 block of Coral Gables Court, where suspects fled as officers arrived, according to Sacramento Police Department. At least one of the suspects was seen with a firearm.

Police said one woman was pistol-whipped and is in stable condition.

A man was stabbed and is in critical but stable condition. According to police, preliminary information indicates the man may have been with the suspects, who ran off after pistol whipping the woman.

One suspect has been detained, while at least one other remains at large. The situation appears to be contained to a nearby apartment complex, according to police.
