Walmart plans to remodel 56 stores in California, focusing on the Sacramento region, to modernize layouts and enhance services.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Shoppers across California, especially in the Sacramento region, could soon see changes inside their local Walmart stores as the company rolls out a new round of remodels.
Walmart announced plans to remodel 56 stores statewide in 2026, including 21 locations across the greater Sacramento area, from Antelope and Citrus Heights to Roseville, Woodland and Yuba City.
The upgrades will focus on modernizing store layouts, adding new technology and improving services to make shopping faster and more convenient, including delivery options that can arrive in as little as an hour for many customers.
Across remodeled stores, customers will see expanded services such as pharmacy delivery for Walmart+ members and a store-based app designed to help shoppers navigate aisles, book auto care services and streamline their visits.
“We’re continuing to invest in California with a focus on how we can better serve communities across the state,” Jay Cordray, Senior Vice President at the West Business Unit, Walmart U.S., said. “By modernizing our stores, we’re making everyday shopping more convenient and creating a more connected experience, while empowering our associates to better support the evolving needs of our customers.”
Walmart said it has invested more than $1.1 billion into California stores over the past five years and plans to remodel more than 650 locations nationwide this year.
