Former Oakland police chief Floyd Mitchell was sworn in as Fremont’s new police chief Thursday.
Last year, Mitchell resigned as Oakland’s police chief following an abrupt announcement in October.
As for his new role, Mitchell said he is looking forward to working with the community.
“As guardians, we all have the unique opportunity to create lasting relationships not only with each other but with the community we serve,” Mitchell said.
Mitchell also said he is proud of what he accomplished in Oakland and hopes to bring that same success to Fremont.
