The paramedic and pilot injured in the Sacramento helicopter crash have been released from the hospital.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The paramedic and pilot on board the helicopter that crashed onto Highway 50 in Sacramento earlier this month have been released from the hospital.
Chad Millward, Margaret Davis and Suzie Smith had just dropped off a patient at UC Davis Medical Center when their REACH helicopter crashed onto the highway minutes later.Â
All three of them were critically injured and taken to a hospital. No one else was hurt. Eventually, Millward and Davis reached stable condition, but Smith died from her injuries days later.Â
REACH Air Medical Services said Millward was released from the hospital this week, while Davis was discharged late last week.
“The outpouring of compassion and concern from our community has been a source of strength for all those affected by this month’s accident. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has kept our crew and their families in their thoughts and prayers during this challenging time,” REACH said in a Facebook post.
REACH said both Davis and Millward have continued to “demonstrate substantial progress” as they recover and have been moved to inpatient rehabilitation facilities.
