A California women’s club got quite the treat when a legendary rapper showed up to perform for them in the small town 70 miles north of Los Angeles.

In a video posted on Instagram by the Ojai Valley Music, Michael Diamond or better known as Beastie Boys co-founder Mike D rocked the city’s community center on April 11 during a surprise show for the Ojai Valley Women’s club.

The performance was off the charts as the gathering of those in the community were treated to a show that concert goers at the weekend’s Coachella music festival hours down the road would’ve been dying to see.

On April 7, the alternative rock band Very Nice Person posted a flyer on social media for an event promoted by Ojai Valley Music. It said the group would be putting on a show with a “very special guest.”

Those in the know were well aware that the alternative rock group is made up of Skyler and David Diamond, the sons of Mike D.

“It came about just through befriending Mike and learning about his love for Ojai.,” Ojai Valley Music founder David Berger told the Ojai Valley News.

“He and I connected through his visits here and showed interest in wanting to do a show here and I was really focused on making that happen for him.”

Berger added, “Myself and our Ojai Valley Music crew quickly put the show together in less than a week. The rest is history.”

In the various clips posted on social media from the Saturday show, the rapper played some of the more popular hits by the Beastie Boys as he rocked the stage alongside his sons.

Together, they brought the house down with the memorable sounds and lyrics as the crowd cheered them on.

Following the legendary show, Berger said “it was a thrill to have Mike and his sons perform in Ojai” as he’s a huge Beastie Boys fan.

“It was an incredible show and incredible buzz and really a reflection of the kind of things I want to do more of in town.”

Days earlier the rapper’s new band Mike D 5D joined Very Nice Person in Malibu for a surprise show at the Brothers Marshall Malibu Surf Shop / Community Center.

Judging by the pictures posted it was an incredible show.
