The crash occurred around 11:56 a.m. near Lucretia Avenue and Story Road. One person died at the scene, according to the San Jose Police Department.

Authorities have not said what led up to the crash, but it involved several vehicles. Witnesses said the crash spanned several blocks and involved five cars, though police have not confirmed the number.

Witnesses described a silver verhicle weaving in and out of traffic, first hitting a Tesla near the enterce to Happy Hollow Park and Zoo before hitting three other cars near Lucretia Avenue.

“One car is coming from back — very high speeds, and crashed into two to three cars,” said Mohinder Singh, who saw the crash.

Singh said he saw an elderly man and woman inside one of the involved vehicles.

Road closures

Road closures remained in place for several hours as officers investigated the cause of the crash and who was at fault.

Wintesses also said the intersection where the crash occurred is notoriously busy, located near a Walmart, school, and gas station.
