One person died at the scene of a multi-vehicle collision near downtown San Jose Friday morning, police said.
At around 11:56 a.m. Friday, the San Jose Police Department was alerted to a crash near Lucretia Avenue and Story Road, the department said in a statement. The intersection abuts Grand Century Shopping Mall, about two miles from the heart of downtown San Jose.
Traffic on Story Road was temporarily blocked along the length of the mall while police investigated the collision, and police advised drivers to avoid the area.

Neither the identity of the victim nor the condition of the other motorists involved in the crash was immediately available Friday evening. Details about possible suspects or arrests were also unavailable.
