Three people were taken to the hospital Friday after a two-vehicle collision in Fresno County.
The collision happened at 5 p.m. at Kearney Boulevard and Cornelia Avenue.
California Highway Patrol acting Sgt. Mario Ochoa said the crash involved a westbound Chevy Silverado and a northbound Honda Accord.
Investigators said the Honda failed to stop at a stop sign before entering the intersection, where the Silverado struck it.
Two men, both approximately 25 years old, were inside the Honda Accord at the time of the crash. Ochoa said both were taken to Community Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
The driver of the Silverado, a 25-year-old woman, was also taken to the hospital with what were described as minor injuries.
Emergency crews responded quickly because an officer was reportedly directly behind the vehicles when the crash occurred.
Fire personnel assisted in extracting the driver and passenger from the Honda because of the severity of the impact.
Ochoa said the Silveardo came to rest partially in a nearby canal, though water levels were low, approximately a foot deep, and posed no additional hazards.
CHP said drugs or alcohol are not thought to be factors in the crash, though the incident remains under investigation.
