SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

Newly obtained video shows the chaotic moments when gunfire broke out during a large gathering at Howe Park in Sacramento, leaving four people injured and prompting an ongoing investigation.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 6:30 p.m. Saturday to reports of individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons at the park. A second call reported a large fight, though air support initially did not locate any disturbance.

When deputies arrived, they found several hundred people gathered at the 38-acre park in what investigators believe may have been connected to a “Picnic Day.” Park officials said the gathering was unauthorized and requested that deputies clear the area.

Ahmed Mohammed Ali was visiting the park selling balloons for his business when the gunfire broke out.

“I started hearing shots that sounded like the shots were going back and forth, and I just started running towards the other direction because all the cop cars were next to my car,” Ali said.

Four people — three men ages 21, 24 and 25, and a 23-year-old woman — were found with injuries. Three suffered gunshot wounds, while one had a grazing wound. All were transported to the hospital and are in stable condition.

“I heard the helicopter sound, and I feared a bit for my life,” Ali said.

Video captured by a witness shows people sprinting for safety as shots rang out. The witness told KCRA 3 he feared for his life.

In a new development, deputies identified a vehicle of interest in Fairfield. Three people — two women and one man — were detained and questioned. A firearm was recovered from the vehicle, though investigators say it remains unclear what role, if any, those individuals played.

No suspects have been identified, and a motive remains under investigation. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
