A 22-year-old Pontiac man is in the Oakland County Jail, accused of fatally stabbing his father’s live-in girlfriend early Saturday morning.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, detectives were expected to turn the case over to prosecutors on Monday for consideration of charges.
The victim was identified as Monique Taylor, 57.
The suspect’s father called 911 shortly after midnight, reporting that his son had stabbed his girlfriend, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies arrived on the scene — a home in the 30 block of North Roselawn in Pontiac — to find Taylor lying on a bedroom floor, bleeding from multiple stab wounds to the torso, arms and hands, the sheriff’s office said.
Taylor was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
The sheriff’s office said the suspect’s father was reportedly in the living room when the stabbing occurred. He heard a commotion and went to investigate — and his son reportedly told him that his girlfriend was dead.
The suspect lived in the home with his father and Taylor, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies found the suspect in the kitchen area of the home and arrested him without incident, the sheriff’s office said. A bloody kitchen knife was found nearby, the sheriff’s office said.
Detectives continue to investigate a possible motive for the stabbing.
This was the second homicide in Pontiac in the past few days. On April 11, Kevonte Javon Smith, 28, was shot to death during an apparent robbery attempt, officials said.
Jonathan Mack, 36, is held without bond in the Oakland County Jail following his arraignment last Wednesday in 50th District Court. Smith and Mack knew each other, the sheriff’s office said.
