Tourism in San Diego has not yet fully recovered from the impact of the pandemic, but the CEO of the San Diego Tourism Authority says he’s optimistic about the future.
In an exclusive interview with KOGO News, Daniel Kuperschmid said that while the covid effect still lingers, there are signs a recovery is continuing.
“From an occupancy prospective we have not recovered since covid…however on the revenue side, the average rates in San Diego have increased, the nightly rates, have increased. So we’ve recovered from covid as it relates to revenue, just not the occupancy” says Kuperschmid.
Earlier this year, the countywide forecast from the San Diego Tourism Authority reflected a marked slowing of growth. However, Kupershmid says there are signs that San Diego tourism will fully recover.
To put it in perspective, San Diego’s tourism dollars add close to 15 billion dollars to our economy every year.
