A 63-year-old man died after his vehicle was rear-ended on state Highway 87 in San Jose on Sunday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers responded around 3:15 p.m. Sunday to a four-vehicle crash on northbound Highway 87 south of Interstate Highway 280 and determined that a 2003 Nissan Frontier struck the rear of a 2021 Toyota Sienna, causing the Toyota to crash into two other vehicles, CHP officials said.
The Toyota and Nissan drivers were taken to hospitals with injuries, and the Toyota driver succumbed to his injuries there. The Nissan driver’s injuries were minor, and impairment is not suspected as a factor in the crash, according to the CHP. The name of the Toyota driver, a 63-year-old from San Jose, was not immediately available.
