BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The city of Bakersfield is inviting members of the community to discuss the city’s 2026-2027 budget Tuesday evening.

Participants can share the priorities they want to see addressed during the budget process, according to city officials.

The city has conducted two budget conversations in April, making this the third meeting.

The conversation is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. April 21 at the former Williams-Sonoma at The Marketplace, according to organizers.

The fourth meeting is set for Wednesday, April 29, at the Compassion Christian Center.

During a City Council budget workshop in March, city staff estimated the city’s budget to be around $900 million with a general fund revenue of around $438 million, reflecting around a $9 million increase in revenue than the current year’s.

At the workshop, city staff proposed cutting about 70 vacant positions across city departments and reducing police and homeless shelter services to reduce costs.
