A 78-year-old woman’s thigh bone was fractured on Tuesday morning when she was struck by a vehicle as she guided its driver into a parking space in Pacific Beach.

San Diego Police Officer Sarah Foster said the 84-year-old male driver of the 2015 Cadillac SRX was attempting to park in a spot at 4802 Mission Blvd. The female was directing him into the spot “when he had a pedal misapplication” that caused the vehicle to accelerate and strike the woman, pinning her to the wall.

The accident happened shortly before 10 a.m. on April 21.

The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a fractured right femur, Foster said. Traffic units responded and are handling the investigation.
